What is Arm Lift and Why is it Done?

Surgical/non-surgical aesthetic methods to remove the deformity of the skin in the upper arm and lower region of the arm are called arm lifting. 1. Arm Lifting Surgery:

Those who have surgery under local anaesthesia can be discharged on the same day after the control of their surgeon, while those who undergo the procedure under general anaesthesia can be discharged the next day.

   • The patient can take a bath two days after the surgery.
   • The patient can start sports activities after 1-1.5 months.
2. Liposuction Method

Three different techniques are frequently used in the liposuction application used for an arm lift.

• Tumescent Liposuction
  This technique is one of the most commonly used liposuction procedures. In this method, also known as liposculpture, a large amount of diluted lidocaine (local anaesthetic) and epinephrine (capillary constrictor) is injected into the adipose tissue in the area and the targeted tissue becomes swollen and stiff. By making very small incisions, excessive fatty tissues are removed with the help of microcannulas. No damage is done to the surrounding tissues during this process. This fat is then placed just below the surface of the skin. Thus, the arm becomes much more alive and plumper. The tumescent liposuction technique is performed under local anaesthesia. Also, because it narrows the capillaries, surgery prevents blood loss. Since the fluid is supplied to the body by subcutaneous injection, IV fluid is not needed.
  
• Laser Liposuction
  In this technique, which uses laser energy to liquefy the accumulated fat tissue, the melted fatty tissue is expelled from the body with the help of microcannulas. As with Tumescent liposuction, it produces successful results without damaging the surrounding tissues.
  In addition, a sterile saline solution is used for a much faster recovery. Thus, the tightening of the skin after the operation becomes faster and more effective. Especially, it is very beneficial to help the laser melt fat cells that are hard to reach through fibrous tissue and to tighten the skin in the arm.
  
• Vaser Liposuction
  It uses heat from ultrasonic energy to break down adipose tissue and emulsify fat cells. The fluidised fat tissue is easily removed from the body through a thin cannula. In this technique, like laser liposuction, it uses advanced technology to provide maximum fal removal with minimum effect without damaging any surrounding tissue. Regardless of which liposuction technique is performed, if there is excess skin, the excess skin after these procedures should be removed by surgical methods. Sometimes the abundance of the skin is limited to the armpits, and sometimes it includes the elbow area. In the first case, excess skin can be recovered by leaving a limited trace that can only be hidden under the armpit. In the second case, the arm stretching process is completed by leaving a mark on the inside of the arm. However, this trace is not visible from the front or behind.
