Breast aesthetics is among the most frequently preferred cosmetic surgery procedures by women. Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Prof. Dr. Şükrü Yazar states that breast aesthetics is not a single type, but is performed according to the needs of the patient. Although breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift are the most frequently performed breast aesthetic surgical procedures, breast aesthetic procedures can also be used for removal of breast asymmetry, tuberous breast and breast reconstruction requirements.
Breast Aesthetics Can Be Performed as a Health Necessity Besides Cosmetic Reasons
Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Prof. Dr. Şükrü Yazar’s explanations continue as follows: “Breast augmentation and breast reduction aesthetic procedures can be performed to women who are not satisfied with the size of their breasts. Breast reduction aesthetics is a surgery that can be applied not only for cosmetic purposes, but also in cases where physical problems are experienced due to the size of the breasts. Breast augmentation aesthetics, on the other hand, is performed by placing silicone implants of different structures and sizes with different incisions in line with the body size and expectations of the patients. It is possible to apply different techniques according to the current breast condition of the patient in breast reduction aesthetics. In breast lift aesthetics, sagging of the breasts due to various reasons and changes in the position of the nipples are eliminated. For this, the excess skin from the breasts is removed, the tissue around the breast is reshaped and the breasts are lifted. In some patients, if the breast tissue is petit, the breast augmentation procedure is combined with breast implants.
Breast Aesthetics Can Be Planned According to Special Requirements
The condition in which the breast is not fully developed and there is a tube-shaped deformity is called tuberous breast and it may cause psychological problems as well as aesthetic concerns. In patients with tuberous breast problem in which there is a significant stenosis at the base of the breast, the dark area around the nipple is wide and there is herniation in the breast tissue from this area. The technique to be applied in tuberous breast surgery is determined according to the size and characteristics of the deformity in the breast.
Prof. Dr. Şükrü Yazar finalises his statement stating that “breast reconstruction procedure is performed in case of loss of one or both breasts due to reasons such as breast cancer, traffic accident, burns, congenital factors. Breast reconstruction should not be considered as an aesthetic surgery. It is reconstruction. Thanks to this surgery, an organ lost for various reasons is tried to be replaced in a natural way. Breast reconstruction can be performed simultaneously or in the form of late breast reconstruction.”
