This surgical method enables solutions for nerve entrapments, shape-function disorders due to arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis, congenital abnormalities such as polydactyly or syndactyly, contractures due to burns. Microsurgical techniques are used to repair the function of the organ. For example, when the nerve which enables the movements of fingers is injured and is not treated; the innervated muscles could end up losing their functions. In this case, an autologous nerve transplant from another part of the body is performed in order to regain the function.
