Breast Aesthetics

Breast aesthetics is surgery that adjusts volume, position, symmetry and the appearance of the nipple. The aim is a form that sits in proportion with the torso and fits the person’s own anatomy.

Childbirth, breastfeeding, weight change, asymmetry or a tuberous shape can take the same complaint to different operations. There is therefore no ready-made “breast package”. At the Nişantaşı clinic the plan is built in Prof. Dr. Şükrü Yazar’s examination.

Which breast procedures are there?

Augmentation, reduction and lift are separate operations; sometimes they are combined in one session. Asymmetry and tuberous breasts need a more detailed plan than a standard implant choice. The cards above are the main breast procedures planned in the clinic; detail sits on the treatment page.

Breast reconstruction after cancer or mastectomy is not on this page; it sits under reconstructive surgery. Aesthetic form and reconstruction come from the same surgical family; their purpose and timing differ. This article explains how a decision is made and when a procedure is not offered.

How is the decision made?

The order is fixed: complaint and breastfeeding history, measurements, skin quality, nipple-to-fold relationship and asymmetry. Then augmentation, lift, reduction or a combination is set out as a realistic option. The scar and recovery of each path are discussed.

Implant size is chosen by the chest wall and soft-tissue cover, not by a “requested cup”. If cover is thin, large volume harms both appearance and the long term; that limit is explained at examination.

Surgical methods and their limits

Incisions may be planned in the breast fold, around the areola or, in selected cases, in the axilla. An implant may sit under breast tissue or in a muscle plane. Which is suitable depends on tissue thickness and the desired form.

In lift and reduction, the new nipple position is calculated so that blood supply is protected. That is a safety decision before “looking perkier”. A device or a ready template does not replace judgement.

A plan for the person

Two breasts are rarely the same. Mild asymmetry is natural; surgery does not erase every millimetre, it balances a clear difference. Wish to breastfeed, sport and body image also affect technique.

Prof. Dr. Şükrü Yazar builds the plan not as an isolated organ, but with the shoulder and waist line. That is the clinical meaning of “natural proportion”.

How does the process work?

At the first visit the complaint and, if any, previous surgery are taken. At examination, measurements and photographs are used to discuss options. The decision is yours.

After surgery, a support bra or garment, arm movement and review appointments are explained. For patients travelling from abroad, follow-up is set around travel.

A second opinion

A second opinion is especially appropriate in revision, capsule problems or marked asymmetry. Previous operative notes and images make a remote preview easier; the decision for surgery still depends on examination.

Safety, recovery and follow-up

Early swelling, tightness and temporary changes in sensation are expected. The true form settles over weeks and months. Reviews monitor the wound and, if used, the implant.

Redness, fever, rapidly increasing swelling or shortness of breath should be reported without delay. Timing of mammography or other imaging is discussed with the physician and, if needed, a radiologist.

When is a procedure not done?

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, aesthetic timing shifts. Uncontrolled illness, active infection or an unrealistic symmetry expectation defer the procedure. A promise to “erase” a small asymmetry does not stand medically.

A calendar does not shorten tissue recovery. A rushed plan before breastfeeding ends or weight settles often leads to a second correction; that is said plainly.

Comparing options

Augmentation alone, augmentation with a lift, a lift alone or reduction are different paths. Which fits your tissue should sit in a written plan with the reason. A hasty implant choice can lead to a result that is harder to correct later.
