Eyebrow Lifting

Why do eyebrows droop?

The eyelids, eyebrows, and forehead form the upper part of the face and are considered together from an aesthetic point of view. Drooping eyelids and excess skin, a major sign of aging, result from the eyebrows and forehead gradually sagging downwards due to gravity. In light of this information, aesthetic surgical procedures performed to lift the eyebrows upwards for aesthetic reasons are called eyebrow lifts or eyebrow lifting.

What problems can drooping eyebrows cause?

Drooping eyebrows can cause the upper eyelid to appear puffy and wrinkled. This can lead to a tired, aged, and sad appearance.

What are the methods for eyebrow lifting?

With advancements in technology, many eyebrow lifting techniques have been developed in the field of aesthetics. Eyebrow lifting can be performed using non-surgical or surgical methods.

Eyebrow lifting with Botox

An effective and fast method, Botox can lift eyebrows by 1-2 millimeters. This creates a refreshing effect on the upper eyelid. Since it’s a temporary method, it needs to be repeated every 4-6 months. However, eyebrow lifting with Botox may not be suitable if the patient has upper eyelid drooping and excessive excess skin, as the Botox treatment can cause these eyelids to droop even further.

Brow lifting with fillers

To correct drooping eyebrows, filler is injected under the skin at the tail end of the eyebrows. This is an effective and quick method performed in a clinical setting. The effect lasts approximately 1-1.5 years and needs to be repeated.

How is a brow lift surgery performed?

Brow lift surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia. The surgery, which lasts approximately half an hour to an hour, can utilize different techniques. It is usually performed in male patients through an incision in the upper eyelid or by removing skin directly above the drooping brow tail. Incisions made through the hairline are not preferred in men because of the potential for visible scarring due to future hair loss. This method is much more common in female patients. The biggest difference between brow lift surgery techniques and methods is the smaller number of incisions in the scalp. Generally, a total of three small incisions are made in the temples and the scalp at the front of the head.

What should be considered before eyebrow lift surgery?

Nail polish, jewelry, and contact lenses should be removed before surgery. Quitting or reducing smoking is recommended. The use of blood-thinning medications and herbal teas should be discontinued. Patients should inform their doctor of any medications they need to take during the examination so that the treatment plan can be adjusted accordingly.

Eyebrow lifting method using sutures and skin removal from above the eyebrow.

This method is particularly preferred in individuals with low eyebrow tails, and generally in male patients. In the suturing method, stitches are made under the skin at the tail of the eyebrow, over the membrane covering the muscle and bone in the hairy area. This lifts the eyebrows, creating a more aesthetic appearance. In the method of removing skin directly from above the eyebrow, in patients with low eyebrows, especially the eyebrow tail, skin is removed directly from above the eyebrow to lift it. This method is generally preferred in men. The scars are hidden at the upper border of the eyebrows.

Thread brow lift

In this method, a small incision is made in the scalp to access the edges and middle of the eyebrow. Then, the drooping/sagging sections are moved and fixed to their correct position using special threads. The application and recovery time for this method is short. However, the duration of this method is also short. On average, the eyebrows may return to their previous appearance within 1 year.

Endoscopic brow lift

If there are significant signs of aging in the forehead and eyebrow area, this type of eyebrow lift surgery is preferred. Small incisions are made in the scalp, and incisions are made under the skin towards the forehead and eyebrows. This allows easy access to the muscles used for frowning, the tail of the eyebrow, and the middle section. The appropriate shape for the eyebrow is determined, and the suturing process is completed. Since the sutures are located under the scalp, they are invisible.

What is the recovery process like after eyebrow lift surgery?

The recovery process varies depending on the method used and any additional procedures. After a surgical brow lift, the stitches may dissolve on their own. If non-dissolving stitches were used, they are removed after about a week. Swelling and bruising, if any, usually disappear within a week. Applying cold compresses to the surgical area for a few days is recommended. Pain is not usually felt during this surgery.

Patients can shower 1-2 days after surgery and return to work a few days later, except for strenuous activities. Wearing makeup is acceptable during this period. Light exercises can be started 2-3 weeks after surgery, and more strenuous sports after the 4th week.

Patients may experience difficulty moving their eyebrows and numbness in that area for a while after surgery, but this is temporary.

Is eyebrow lifting permanent?

Brow lift surgery, like other cosmetic procedures, is not a completely permanent aesthetic operation, and its effects last an average of 8-10 years, although influenced by many factors. However, the eyebrows generally do not return to their pre-operative state; only slight loosening and sagging occur in certain areas. In brow lift procedures using the thread lift method, this period is approximately 1 year, while with Botox it is between 4-6 months.

What are the complications of eyebrow lift surgery?

Although very rare, complications such as bleeding and infection can occur in eyebrow lift operations. However, these complications are infrequent, and there are no large vessels in this area that would cause serious bleeding. Avoiding blood thinners and herbal supplements, and most importantly, quitting smoking, will reduce and prevent the risk of any complications after surgery.

Although rare, hair loss may occur in the area where the incision was made after a brow lift procedure. There is also a small possibility of nerve damage in this area after surgery. These risks are minimized with brow lift procedures and surgeries performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.

Eyebrow lift prices 2021

“Eyebrow lift prices”, “eyebrow lift prices 2022”, “eyebrow lift aesthetic surgery prices” and “eyebrow drooping aesthetic surgery price” are among the frequently asked questions by patients planning this operation. Numerous factors determine the cost of the surgery. The patient’s general condition, the method to be used, the hospital where the surgery or procedure is performed, and your surgeon’s knowledge, skill, and experience are some of these factors. You can obtain the most accurate information about the prices of eyebrow lift procedures and surgeries from your doctor during your examination.

Is further surgery necessary after eyebrow lift Botox treatment?

Brow lift Botox is a frequently preferred method in recent years. Its simplicity, near-zero risks, and minimal impact on daily life are among its biggest advantages. However, the effect of brow lift Botox lasts for 4-6 months in patients. If the patient’s muscle structure is not suitable, the effect of Botox will not be sufficient. The fact that Botox only lifts the outer part of the eyebrows also limits the method’s use. Therefore, Botox is only temporarily effective for brow lifting. If a longer-lasting effect is desired, brow lift surgery is recommended.

Eyebrow lift at home

Patients who are hesitant about aesthetic procedures and surgeries, or who want to correct eyebrow drooping on their own, are also researching at-home eyebrow lifting methods. It may be possible to make eyebrows appear higher with certain massage techniques or eye makeup methods. However, these methods cannot solve the existing problem; they can only camouflage it.
