What is facelift?
The surgical interventions to eliminate the visible aging symptoms that emerged over the face and neck regions are called facelift. Facelift, which is also known as rhytidectomy, is performed to fix the saggy and irregular skin on the patient’s forehead, face and neck regions while removing the excessive volume of fatty tissues at the cheek and neck areas. The fascia (connected to all the systems in the human body, a vital structure as vital as blood) and the fatty tissues of the face are suspended by contracting up to the anatomically convenient sections and also facial tissues are supported. In that process, eyelids of the patient are also refined. Upon requirement, in association with facial lifting procedure, peeling, filling, or Botox treatments are performed as complementary interventions.
What are the facelift procedures?
- Endoscopic Facelift
- Middle Facelift
- Classical Facelift
Facelift is performed under local or general anaesthesia. Your surgeon shall determine the best option. The surgeon may apply miscellaneous procedures during the operation according to the patients’ status. Those are;
- Contour enhancement by facial implants or fat transfer
- Facial skin tone and tissue enhancement via renewal techniques
- Eliminating wrinkles by fat and filling materials injection
In addition, depending on the expected result, three different methods can be performed during the surgery;
- Conventional facelift
- Restrained incision facelift
- Neck lift
Conventional facelift is the removal of excessive fat from the patient’s face, chin, and neck, followed by the allocation of these fats to the needy regions of the patients’ face. In that process, the tissue placed under is relocated on the face and the excessive skin is dissected. In facelift procedure, small incisions around the ear are used and outcomes of the procedure are considered successful. Neck lift refers to the improvement of the saggy area under the chin. Neck looseness and accumulated fat are removed. After the entire procedure is completed, the incisions are sutured either by absorbable suture materials or with the stitches that require removal. Sometimes dermal pastes are also applied for the closure of the incisions.
