Midface Lift

A midface lift refers to procedures targeting the lower eyelids, cheekbones, and part of the cheeks—that is, the central portion of the face. Where do you perform your examinations, surgeries, dressings and check-ups?

I perform preoperative examinations, postoperative patient dressing changes, check-ups, and follow-ups for breast aesthetic surgeries at my own clinic in Nişantaşı. I perform all my aesthetic surgeries at Acıbadem Maslak or Acıbadem Altunizade hospitals in Istanbul. However, due to certain special circumstances and requests, I also work at other hospitals.

Are facial aesthetics safe?

Thanks to the techniques and practices implemented in recent years, facelift surgery has become a safe surgical procedure. However, the surgeon’s experience is absolutely critical to the success of this surgery. The facial region is the most important and sensitive area that helps maintain a person’s psychological well-being throughout their life. For this reason, you should evaluate the surgical steps with a specialist surgeon. Choosing a surgeon who has extensive experience in facial rejuvenation procedures will increase the likelihood of a successful outcome while reducing the risk of complications.

Can I see before and after photos of previous patients?

In Turkey, sharing photos of individuals who have undergone cosmetic surgery in digital environments and using them for advertising purposes is prohibited by law. Doctors may only show photos of patients who have signed an official consent form allowing the taking and sharing of surgical photos for scientific purposes. Photographs taken during the pre- and post-operative processes cannot be used on public platforms, television, newspapers, magazines, websites, emails, social media pages, phones, blogs, articles, catalogs, etc.

Are facial aesthetic procedures suitable for men?

Absolutely, men without significant health issues can undergo these cosmetic procedures same as women. The procedures involved may vary depending on the structure of the face and the individual’s overall condition, regardless of gender. Facelift surgeries are increasingly becoming a common type of cosmetic procedure among men as well.

What are the potential risks or complications?

Potential risks are inherent to any surgical procedure, though complications are rarely observed when a specialist is consulted. Temporary swelling and bruising are commonly expected, while more significant concerns like hematomas or nerve sensitivity are minimized through advanced techniques. The final appearance of scars is determined by individual healing, and any minor asymmetries are managed via professional aftercare to ensure a successful outcome is achieved.

Will there be any scars, stitches, or similar marks left after the procedures?

Incisions are strategically placed within natural skin folds or hidden behind the hairline to ensure that any resulting marks remain virtually invisible. Fine sutures are utilized to facilitate precise healing and are typically removed or absorbed during the initial recovery period. Although minor surgical lines may be noted immediately following the procedure, these are expected to fade significantly over several months until they are nearly undetectable. Through advanced surgical techniques, the visibility of scars is minimized so that a natural, unblemished appearance is achieved.

What is the post-procedure recovery process like?

After the surgery, patients may take pain relievers prescribed by their surgeon to manage discomfort. Applying cold compresses to the face can help reduce pain and swelling. If a drainage tube is used, it is usually removed the day after the procedure. Swelling and bruising typically start to diminish within 7 to 10 days. Sutures used in facial surgeries are often self-dissolving; if removable sutures are used, they are generally taken out within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the area. During the healing period, it is crucial to avoid sun exposure and strenuous activities. Additionally, women are advised not to apply makeup near the incision sites to prevent irritation or infection.

How much would a facial aesthetic procedure cost?

Facial aesthetics operations cost depends on the patients general conditions, the quality of the equipments that will be utiliized, where the operation takes place and your surgeon's level of expertise and experience. The most accurate information will be given during the initial examination.

Does the Social Security Institution (SGK) cover the costs of facial aesthetic procedures?

As a general rule, purely cosmetic procedures are not covered by the Social Security Institution (SGK), as they are categorized as elective aesthetic enhancements rather than medical necessities. However, coverage may be extended if a procedure is deemed medically essential to restore function or correct a significant deformity. For instance, if a functional impairment is documented—such as severe eyelid drooping that obstructs vision or nasal structural issues that impede breathing—a portion of the costs may be subsidized following a formal evaluation by a medical committee. In all other cases where the primary objective is aesthetic rejuvenation, the financial responsibility is assumed by the patient.

How does a deep plane face lift differ from a traditional lift?

Unlike traditional methods that pull the skin, a Deep Plane Facelift repositions the deeper muscle and fat layers (SMAS). This creates a more natural, refreshed appearance with significantly less tension on the skin and longer-lasting results.

How long do the results of these procedures last?

While the aging process continues, these structural procedures typically provide results that last 10 to 15 years. Factors such as skin quality, genetics, and lifestyle choices will influence the long-term longevity of the lift.
