- Liposuction Method
Three different techniques are commonly used in liposuction for arm lifts.
- Tumescent Liposuction This technique is one of the most frequently used liposuction procedures. Also known as liposculpture, this method involves injecting a large amount of diluted lidocaine (local anesthetic) and epinephrine (capillary constrictor) into the fat tissue in the problem area, making the targeted tissue swollen and firm. Excess fat tissue is removed through very small incisions using micro-cannulas. No damage is done to surrounding tissues during these procedures. This fat is then placed just below the surface of the skin. This makes the arm much firmer and fuller. Tumescent liposuction is performed under local anesthesia. Regardless of the liposuction technique used, if there is excess skin, it must be surgically removed after the procedure. Sometimes the excess skin is limited to the armpit, and sometimes it extends to the elbow. In the first case, the excess skin can be tightened by leaving a limited scar that can be hidden only in the armpit. In the second case, the arm lift procedure is completed by leaving a scar on the inside of the arm. However, this scar is not visible from the front or back.
